Together, these initiatives foster stable, supportive, and mutually accountable communities, addressing the nation's urgent affordable housing crisis and the escalating issue of evictions leading to homelessness.

This approach could have made a difference in the eviction of a resident we will call Ms. Lonnie. Ms. Lonnie, a middle-aged Caucasian female, had been abducted as a teenager and held for seven days by two men. Her parents never reported her missing, and when she was returned, they sought no counseling or victim support services for her. Her adult life was peppered with toxic relationships and periods of homelessness. Her most recent stint was brought on by neglecting to recertify her annual income—a ten-minute process. Ms. Lonnie refused to come to the Rental Office and complete the process. Unaddressed trauma is the reason behind this eviction, and the Cornerstone approach would have addressed it.

By providing property managers with the tools to identify and respond to trauma and equipping residents with the resources and education needed to sustain housing, Cornerstone Property Management is creating pathways to stability.
